Lawton Public Schools offers a free pre-kindergarten instructional program for children in the district who reach their fourth birthday on or before Sept. 1, 2016.
LPS operates half-day pre-kindergarten programs – morning and afternoon – at Almor West Elementary, 6902 SW Delta and Carriage Hills Elementary, 215 SE Warwick Way.
Full-day pre-kindergarten programs are housed at Cleveland Elementary, 1202 SW 27th Street; Learning Tree Academy, 1908 NW 38th Street; Sullivan Village Elementary, 3802 SE Elmhurst Lane; Woodland Hills Elementary, 405 NW Woodland Drive; Crosby Park, 1602 NW Horton; Ridgecrest, 1614 NW 47th; and Lincoln Elementary, 601 SW Park Avenue.
Parents who live on Fort Sill have the option of sending their children to Freedom Elementary, 5720 Geronimo Road.
LPS works with several community partners as well to offer full-day pre-kindergarten sessions, such as Beginnings Academy, 501 NW Woodridge, in conjunction with Crossroads Youth & Family Services Head Start. Beginnings Academy serves families that meet specific income eligibility requirements. Other collaborative programs include Creative Moments, Smart Start and Wonder Years child care facilities for working parents that need before or after-school child care. These partners accept applications for enrollment at any time.
All LPS pre-kindergarten programs operate weekdays during the school year.
Parents who have not pre-enrolled their children should immediately take them to the LPS Enrollment Center in the Douglass Learning Center, 102 E. Gore Blvd. Enrollments are taken weekdays between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Parents should bring the students’ state-issue birth certificate, current immunizations, student’s social security number and family proof of residence. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis since class sizes are limited to 20 students apiece.
Families must live within the Lawton school district and are responsible for providing transportation to and from school.
