Several Lawton Public Schools (LPS) sites have been named Certified Healthy sites and will receive recognition this month – on June 23, at a virtual awards ceremony.
More than 1,300 Certified Healthy Oklahoma applications were received statewide for 2021.
“Organizations and individuals that earn Certified Healthy Oklahoma certification at any level should be very proud of the accomplishment and deserve to be celebrated for their efforts as a leader in Oklahoma health,” Interim Commissioner of Health Keith Reed said. “These champions of health are helping pave the way to an elevated quality of life for all Oklahomans.”
Certified Healthy Oklahoma, a collaborative between several agencies across the state, separates awarded certifications into three different distinctions depending on the criteria met. These categories include: Excellence, Merit and Basic.
Those named in the Excellence category are as follows:
Crosby Park Elementary
Freedom Elementary School
Lawton Public Schools
Learning Tree Academy
MacArthur High School
MacArthur Middle School
Woodland Hills Elementary School
Additionally, Eisenhower Middle School obtained certification under the Merit category.
Our schools have worked diligently to ensure that the prioritization of health is present in our buildings through both the facilities themselves and the students and staff which inhabit them.
